As I hurtle rapidly towards my 60th birthday-my first “big” birthday without my darling CMadison or my Daddy, I decided to celebrate in the company of smart, conscious women talking, listening, engaging and breaking bread with one another.

Telos Training, Inc. has lined up an amazing group of women for this conference-not to lecture or to preach but to share and engage and create spaces for learning and discussion with all of us. I’m excited to spend time with…. [Click for the flyer details]

AND there’ll be FOOD…Continental Breakfast, a Mid-Morning Snack, Lunch and an Afternoon Break Snack…as soon as the actual menu is finalized I’ll post it!

Don’t you just love pickles, jams and tomato sauce? Wouldn’t you love to learn how to make your own with fresh, home-grown ingredients from an organic garden? Well, now you can!

Location :      The Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith (Yes, it’s at church, in the Senior Citizen’s room in the back, but the class is open to er’body!)

Instruction on how to use the Water Bath method and the Pressure Cooker method of canning;

Recipes for Strawberry Jam, Spicy Garlic Dill Pickles and Roasted Tomato & Garlic Sauce with Basil; and

Jars of deliciousness to take home for inspiration!

TELOS TRAINING, INC. DOMESTIC ARTS CLASSES

Seed Starting Class: April 13th, $50.00

We’ll start with goodies as we learn how to grow an organic vegetable garden from seed, how to read a seed package, why companion plantings makes life easier and how cross-pollination works. You’ll leave pleased with the power to feed yourself and your family pesticide free food AND with your own portable, mini-greenhouse filled with vegetable, herbs and flower seeds ready to germinate at your own home!

Seedling Transplant Class: May 18th, $40.00

Wear sturdy shoes because we’ll be outside-after we eat! In this class we’ll learn how to clean and prepare garden beds, which plants can thrive in containers, how to measure the distance between plantings and how to fight pests without pesticides. You’ll leave pleased with the power to feed yourself and your family pesticide free food AND your own tools to transplant your seedlings as soon as you get home!

Pickling Class: June 8th, $30.00

If you love spicy, garlic dill pickles, then this is the class for you! We’ll learn how to select, sterilize and prepare jars, how to prepare a haul of the bumper crop of beautiful summer cucumbers and how to turn that haul into fabulous jars of crispy, crunchy pickles. You’ll leave with a copy of the recipe, sprigs of dill, a set of jars w/labels and your own jar of pickles to munch on at home for inspiration as you make more!
